Behaviour
We are a caring school community, and at the heart of our ethos is a behaviour policy that delivers practice that is simple, highly effective and consistent. We believe that the route to exceptional behaviour throughout the school begins with the behaviour of every adult and their ability to create and maintain a culture of certainty. That certainty comes through their calmness, compassion, positivity and the routines that are embedded in every classroom.
We have three school rules: Ready, Respectful and Safe
Ready
Arriving at school ready to learn.
Wearing their uniform with pride and wearing the correct PE kit on their PE day.
Taking care of the equipment that they need for lessons.
Participating fully in lessons and building resilience.
Respectful
Listening when an adult is talking.
Being polite and demonstrating good manners to everyone.
Respecting difference and acknowledging that everyone is equal.
Looking after equipment and sharing it.
Looking after our environment and not dropping litter.
Lining up sensibly and quietly.
Safe
Following instructions first time – every time.
Standing up to bullying by informing an adult.
Walking sensibly around school.
Knowing who to approach for support.
Staying safe online inside and outside of school.

TISUK- Trauma Informed Schools UK- is a nationally renowned programme that enables training on trauma and mental health concerns in young people. Miss Edkins has recently undertaken training to gain a Diploma in Trauma and Mental Health-Informed Schools and Communities: Practitioner status.
The training provided key insights into the psychology and neuroscience of mental ill-health and challenging behaviour alongside vital tools and techniques in knowing how to respond to a child’s narrative of painful life events. The knowledge gained will now enable us to have appropriate conversations with students showing empathy and attuning to their thoughts/feelings in order to validate what they may have been through.
As a school, we will now embed the knowledge with all staff over the coming academic year, enabling us to develop whole school cultures where well-being and being mentally healthy are the highest priorities.
