Think. know. explain. do.

Our Nursery

We are currently full for the academic year 2023-2024.

There are two Nursery Classes in our unit, guided by a qualified teacher who over sees both the ‘Stars’ and ‘Rainbows’ rooms. Both rooms have a highly qualified and experienced team of staff. We aim to provide an environment in which the children develop self-esteem, in an atmosphere of mutual respect, whilst learning to appreciate and understand others.  We encourage independence and promote an ethos of listening, sharing, concentration and pride in their achievements.  In everything we do, we are developing the children’s speaking and listening skills and giving them the confidence to know when and how to seek help.

The Stars room focuses predominantly on the three prime areas of learning; Communication and Language, Personal Social and Emotional and Physical development. The Rainbows room focuses on the three prime areas as well as incorporating the four specific areas to support the children to feel prepared for starting school.

The first half an hour of the Nursery session allows the children to arrive at their allocated time, where they will be able to change their book in their book bag and settle at an activity. This also allows time for parents to speak to the teacher and to ensure that their child is settled and ready for their session. The children in Nursery experience whole class learning time every day as well as a daily session of Read, Write Inc and listening games. They also have adult-guided sessions and child-initiated activities available every day in both the inside and the outside areas. The teaching and activities available to the children are topic-led, with a particular focus on the children’s interests.
