Welcome to Year 5
5ZM is taught by Mrs McCracken (5ZM) and Mrs Curtis/Mrs Dawson (5ED). Our teaching assistants are Ms Goodger (who also covers PPA in the year group), Ms Dooner and Mr Ballinger. Mrs Nixon also teaches within the year group, both PPA and taking intervention groups across both classes.
We are looking forward to an exciting summer term with lots of learning and great progress being made by all the children.
Year 5 Team
Maths homework will be given out on a Thursday and handed in on a Monday. Children should dedicate 20 minutes to complete their homework.
Spellings are given out on Fridays to be tested the following Friday so the children have a week to learn them. They are stuck into an A4 orange book that the children will bring home which needs to be in school every Friday.
Click on this link for some spelling practice activities your child could use to help them learn their weekly spellings. (Link to spelling-practice-activity-cards.pdf)
Children are provided with reading records and are expected to read 5 times per week for around 20 minutes a time. This will help them to develop their vocabulary and understanding of how to write and communicate well. It will also help them to develop strong comprehension and understanding, while hopefully developing a love of English. Reading records should be handed in every Monday so that we can monitor children’s reading at home.
