  • Anti-bullying Week

Tue 23 Nov 2021 Mr Hansen

This week is particularly important and relevant as the children have had a focus on Anti Bullying Week. Learning has focused on developing children’s understanding of how to prevent and respond to bullying, and how to support others who may feel upset by others.

Children learn to understand that not all unkindness is bullying, but that any unkindness needs to be dealt with. The underlying values we promote with children through our PSHCE curriculum and our behaviour policy about respecting others, regardless of similarities or differences plays an important part in ensuring this is a secure part of our ethos.

If your child has any worries about any unkindness in school, which could potentially be bullying, please contact your child’s class teacher in the first instance. We take any allegations of this nature very seriously and teacher will ensure that appropriate concerns are passed onto the leadership of the school to be dealt with.

The focus of this year’s anti bullying week is One Kind Word. Below is an extract from the Anti Bullying Alliance website which sums it up nicely:

‘In a world that can sometimes feel like it’s filled with negativity, one kind word can provide a moment of hope. It can be a turning point. It can change someone’s perspective. It can change their day. It can change the course of a conversation and break the cycle of bullying… It starts with one kind word. It starts today’

  • Year 6 Young Shakespeare experience.

    Fri 12 Nov 2021 Year 6 pupils

    Year 6 Young Shakespeare experience.

‘On Friday 12th November 2021, classes 6CM and 6AC gathered in the KS2 hall to watch a performance of Macbeth given to them by four actors from of the Young Shakespeare Company. This was two hours long, with a short break in the middle, and at the end, everyone agreed that the performance of this tragedy was amazing! Several willing children volunteered and were chosen for small roles in the play, however all children had a part in the performance.

    Here are a few quotes:

Ella: I thought that they were amazing and I enjoyed being the king’s royal trumpeter.

Madison: I thought it was amazing they all made a tragedy into a comedy.

Milly: I thoroughly enjoyed the performance and found it very easy to understand.

Lydia: They were the best actors I’ve ever seen.

Isaac: It was a great performance of Macbeth.

Harry Ce: It was very interesting.

Daisy R: It was amazing how the actors projected their voices and weren’t scared at all.

Finally, we would like to thank the teachers for inviting the Young Shakespeare company into school!’

  • A guide to our School Behaviour Policy

    Fri 05 Nov 2021

Our Behaviour Policy was updated this September with 3 simple school expectations:

    Ready, Respectful and Safe.

Our children have responded really positively to the expectations and are able to talk confidently about what each one means and why it is important to them and the school as a whole.

    Ready

    • Arriving at school ready to learn.
    • Wearing their uniform with pride and having the correct PE kit in school.
    • Taking care of the equipment that they need for lessons.
    • Participating fully in lessons and building resilience.

    Respectful

    • Listening when an adult is talking.
    • Being polite and demonstrating good manners to everyone.
    • Respecting difference and acknowledging that everyone is equal.
    • Looking after equipment and sharing it.
    • Looking after our environment and not dropping litter.
    • Lining up sensibly and quietly.

    Safe

    • Following instructions first time – every time.
    • Standing up to bullying by informing an adult.
    • Walking sensibly around school.
    • Knowing who to approach for support.
    • Staying safe online inside and outside of school.
